This review evaluated the efficacy of psychological and pharmacological therapies for
depression in young people. The conclusions were: child and mental healthcare trained
therapists should provide psychological therapies; tricyclic antidepressants should not be
used; fluoxetine particularly combined with cognitive behaviour therapy seems efficacious.
The results of this generally well-conducted review may have been weakened by the
exclusion of foreign language papers and selection bias.
