Geriatric clinical placements

Nurse Educ. 1989 Mar-Apr;14(2):21-3. doi: 10.1097/00006223-198903000-00014.

Abstract

Recognizing that the profession must prepare individuals able and willing to work with the elderly, educators must consider the long-term care facility and geriatric clinical placement as part of the basic nursing curriculum. Data presented indicate that the geriatric clinical placement offers students opportunities to learn and practice a wide range of nursing skills and suggest that the long-term care facility is a valuable, underused clinical resource for intermediate and advanced students.
