What is professionalism and how can we promote it?

Abstract

Professionalism is understood differently by members of different professions and within the medical profession itself. In its broadest sense, medical professionalism encompasses all of the aspects of the higher attributes of being a physician. This article explores some of the characteristics of being a professional, some of its challenges, and what we can do to promote professionalism.
