(3) To have a CES-D-20 score ≥16 and ≤32To include participants with at least significant or mild depression symptoms

Exclusion criteriaReasoning
(1) Participation in other psychosocial or pharmacological treatments for the reduction/cessation of alcohol use or the reduction of depression symptomsTo avoid confounding treatment effects
(2) Use of opioids, cocaine or amphetamine-type stimulants in the past 30 days and/or cannabis use for more than three times a week in the previous 30 daysTo avoid confounding drug effects
(2) Ever been in treatment for cardiovascular problemsTo avoid the possibility of participants with these problems entering the study
(3) Suicide attempt history, actual suicide plans, elevated probability for a suicide attempt (P4 suicidal screener score ‘minimal risk’)To avoid the possibility of participants with these problems entering the study
