    In order to understand the basic roles of each Wap65, this study attempts to determine which of the paralogs possesses the original hemopexin function as an iron scavenger. Since iron-dextran is an injectable low-molecular-weight ferric hydroxide complex, vascular injection can induce high levels of iron in the plasma of recipient animals (Auerbach et al., 2007; Zhang et al., 2019). In this study, intravascular injection of iron dextran in rainbow trout should have an effect of iron metabolism, and thus Wap65(s) involved in iron metabolism would be expected to respond promptly.
