This is contrary to previous ACOG (ACOG, 2002; ACOG, 2015) guidelines for exercise during pregnancy which recommend that supine exercise from the second trimester should be avoided to decrease the risk of hypotension due to the fetus pressing on the inferior vena cava (hypotensive syndrome) (Clark et al., 1991; ACOG, 2015). Geweniger and Bohlander (2014) also recommend that pregnant women should avoid long periods in the supine position and have proposed no longer than 5 min.
