ARC as defined by the International Agency for Cancer Research (breast cancer C50; colorectal cancer C18–C20; UADT (including cancer of the mouth, C01 -C15, larynx, C32, and excluding salivary gland, C08), other cancers (all cancer mortality excluding ARC mortality)).
*A priori systematic adjustment was undertaken for age at recruitment, smoking (time-varying) status and duration of smoking, BMI (time-varying) and height, education attainment, physical activity score, energy intake not from alcohol consumption, number of children, age at first birth, oral contraceptive use and duration, menopausal status at baseline and age at menopause, and history of breast cancer in mother or sister.
†Alcohol was studied as a time-varying variable taking into account baseline and follow-up information.
